Head Chef

The iconic Stanley Hotel is looking for a Head Chef. Our current Head Chef has built up an enviable reputation for a regional Hotel providing the usual pub fare with a stylish twist plus on trend restaurant dishes influenced by what we see out our windows – local seafood and great steaks.
The Stanley Hotel provides a great workplace and conditions proven by length of time our staff stay with us.
We are rare in that we offer a generous salary with every third weekend off; we don’t expect you to work ridiculous hours – Stanley is all about lifestyle - and we can provide a comfortable place to live.
Stanley offers a great pub (ours), primary school, well stocked supermarket, post office, chemist, cafes, golf course and specialty stores – all you need while you live by the beach. Stanley is a small town with a welcoming local community. Be part of a family owned and managed business.
Smithton is the next town, a 20-minute drive, for larger stores, hospitals, etc. Burnie is 1.5hours away, Launceston is an easy 2.5hours drive. The Tarkine and great surf is at Marrawah only an hour from Stanley.
Stanley Hotel is not your usual pub – we make everything in house showcasing the abundance of fresh local produce right on our doorstep. We are looking for someone with a passion for food, flavours and cooking.
We have a great kitchen team with qualified chefs, apprentices and talented kitchen hands.
We have survived COVID and have been busy since re-opening and look forward to a busy winter – so we need you to start as soon as possible.
About you – we are looking for someone who has experience as a Head Chef, a proven record of kitchen management and excellent references. Be willing to follow our tried and tested systems, procedures and recipes and pitch in to help in any area of the kitchen. This is a hands-on role, you need to be able to run the pass that in a seating will serve up to 120 meals – each one presented with care and attention.
We need you to be committed to customer satisfaction liaising with owners, kitchen and front of house staff regarding any food preparation issues and dietary requirements.
Be able to provide suggestions and improvements constructively, maintaining our work culture that treats each other with respect and kindness. Be prepared to train and encourage our staff, demonstrating cooking techniques and procedures.
